32 Week Status Update with a Cold

I'm a little under the weather this week.  I seem to have caught a cold and on top of already being out of breath and tired, I'm all congested and not sleeping at night.  I'm hoping that I can kick this thing soon and that I'll be back to feeling like my old self.

How Big is Baby: Still a squash but we'll be updating to a new picture next week.

Total Weight Gain: Last week it was 23 lbs.  I was too busy blowing my nose this morning to weigh in so I'll just guess 24 and leave it at that.

Maternity Clothes: Still doing some of both.

Stretch Marks: Not Yet. Palmers lotion with cocoa butter is my friend!!!

Sleep: Even more difficult with a cold.  It should be illegal to be pregnant and have a cold.  That is just too much punishment for one person.

Best Moment this Week: We got to spend lots of time with family during Thanksgiving and I made some artwork for the nursery.

Worst Moment this Week:  Spending lots of time with family meant lots of time driving up and down the road.  All that driving can do a number on my back.

Food Cravings: None worth mentioning.

Gender: It's a boy and he has a name.

Labor Signs: I think I may have experianced some Braxton-Hicks contractions, but I'm not certain.

Belly Button: At this point it is almost gone.  And when little one kicks just right, I swear it begins turning inside out. I've poked it back in multiple times.

What I miss: Being able to self-induce a Nyquil coma.  Having a cold is never fun but typically I medicate myself out of conciousness to survive.  With baby on board, I'm stuck fighting this thing out with little to no medication.

What I'm looking forward to: Right now, the weekend looks pretty good.  If I'm still feeling rough at least I can spend the day in my PJs on the couch instead of dragging myself into the office.

Weekly Wisdom: We'll just stick with last week's courtesy of a co-worker with two kiddos of his own... "(Babies) are completely predictable... Just expect chaos, and they will be predictable."

Milestones: Just 8 weeks to go.  That's something anyway.

Baby's now the size of a squash!

Ready or not, baby's getting ready to emerge. She's probably in the head-down position by now, with her bottom facing up. This is the comfiest way for her body to fit in your increasingly cramped womb and will make her eventual exit (only a few months away now!) much easier. (If she's still head-up, don't panic -- there's still time for a flip before birth.)

31 Week Status Update - Happy Thanksgiving!!!

We have made it to 31 weeks.  That means that we are only 6 weeks away from being considered full term.  Bean has been extra active this week throwing lots of punches and kicks my way.  I hope his current activity schedule isn't any indication of what his sleep schedule will be in the future because his favorite time to jump around is just about bedtime and all through the night.  It's Thanksgiving which means lots of traveling for our little family.  The holidays are always busy for us especially since we have a two hour drive between the families.  Here's to starting the holiday season off with a bang.

How Big is Baby: Still a squash.  By the way, Brian hates the picture of the squash because he insists that squash should be yellow.  Personally, I don't eat the stuff and couldn't say for sure, but I will agree that I've never seen a squash the color of the one in the pic.

Total Weight Gain: 23 lbs as of this morning. My goal for the holiday is not to throw another 5-10 lbs on top of that 23.

Maternity Clothes: Still doing some of both.  Thanks to whomever came up with the Belly Band idea!!!
Stretch Marks: Not Yet. Palmers lotion with cocoa butter is my friend!!!

Sleep: Still a struggle some nights and really great other nights.

Best Moment this Week: My mommie brought us two nights worth of supper last night.  I love it when I can avoid cooking!!!

Worst Moment this Week:  Just about everyone we know has been fighting a 24 hour stomach bug... we're doing our best to avoid it.

Food Cravings: Still a no at the moment.

Gender: Still a boy and the name thing is progressing... I hesitate to talk about it for fear we will suddenly have to start over.

Labor Signs: I think I may have experianced some Braxton-Hicks contractions, but I'm not certain.

Belly Button: Still getting smaller.

What I miss: This week, I miss my glass of wine to decompress at the end of a day.  It has been a stressful week and I could seriously use something to slow my mind down a little.

What I'm looking forward to: This is a nice, long weekend for us.  We'll be busy running up and down the road, but at least we'll squeeze in a trip to Auburn for the Iron Bowl.  War Eagle!

Weekly Wisdom: Courtesy of a co-worker with two kiddos of his own... "(Babies) are completely predictable... Just expect chaos, and they will be predictable."

Milestones: No real huge milestones this week, but we are nearing the 60 days to go mark.
Baby's now the size of a squash! Oh... and I registered for baby stuff this week too!

Baby's going through major brain and nerve development these days. His irises now react to light, and all five senses are in working order. (He won't pick up anything from his nose until after birth, though -- smell is transferred through air, not amniotic fluid.)

Welcome Audrey Kate!

It's been a very busy week here.  So busy, in fact, that I haven't had a minute to welcome our newest niece properly to the world.  Audrey Kate Rozell was born on Tuesday November 15, 2011.

Congrats Stacy and Scott!

Mommie and baby are both doing well and Brady is the proudest big brother in the world.

Dear Audrey,

It is completely atrocious that your aunt hasn't been to see you but once so far since you've been born.  But work has been crazy this week and I just couldn't get away like I would have liked.  I promise to do much, much better in the future and to always be there for you.  I also promise to do my absolute best to make sure the time we spend together is more fun than just about anything else in the world.

Love,
Aunt Sue

30 Week Status... In a Hurry

I just stopped by the office to send a couple of emails and realized that today is Wednesday.  I'm going to do a quick update and I'll be back soon with another post.

How Big is Baby: Still a squash.
Total Weight Gain: 22 lbs as of this morning.  Hoping it will hold steady there for a couple of weeks.
Maternity Clothes: I've still got them, but I'm also still pretty regularly wearing my regular slacks with a belly band. Wouldn't it be great if that lasted the entire pregnancy?

Stretch Marks: Not Yet. Palmers lotion with cocoa butter is my friend!!!

Sleep: Better overall this week.  I think I'm learning to sleep in a new position though some nights I just can't get comfortable.
Best Moment this Week: We had a great weekend hanging out with some family and sharing in the Host of Christmas Past experiance.   Brian's brother, Wes, came up here and shot a big ole deer too! So that made the guys happy.  Plus, we welcomed baby Audrey Rozell to the world just yesterday.
Worst Moment this Week: Another funeral... they say they come in threes.  I hope they are wrong.
Food Cravings: Still a no at the moment.
Gender: Still a boy without a name but I think we're getting close to agreeing on something.
Labor Signs: None yet, though I've read that I may be having some Braxton-Hicks contractions (false labor) soon. Maybe I am and I just havn't noticed or maybe I'm not... hmmmm.

Belly Button: Still getting smaller.
What I miss: Not being made completely crazy by the hormones.  I'm up and down more lately than I have been the entire pregnancy.
What I'm looking forward to: A long weekend followed by a two day work week.  Work is crazy and it's beginning to stress me out.  I could so use a break.
Weekly Wisdom: Nothing new this week, but last week's wisdom is worth repeating... When you have a monumental mess task to clean up perform and don't know where to begin, start with one simple step. Then take another, and another, and another, and soon you will find that you have accomplished your goal. Looking at the whole thing can be overwhelming.

Milestones: Bean is responding to outside stimuli... namely his daddy.  Last night Brian poked my belly and it poked back.  Then when we rolled over to go to sleep, Bean kicked his papa in the back!
Baby's now the size of a squash!

As baby's skin smoothes out, her brain just keeps getting more wrinkled. All those grooves and indentations increase surface area, meaning more room for that oh-so-essential brain tissue. She's also adding some brawn -- her grip is now strong enough to grasp a finger.

29 Week Status

We've had another busy week here at the Hamilton house.  Brian's been away for work and national guard, I've made great strides toward getting the house clean, and Bean is jumping and kicking me like he's some kind of mixed martial arts fighter.  Work is still plenty busy, but I just got one big project ready for review and I have about 3 more in the works that should be getting finished in the next couple of weeks.  I'm shooting to have all these big projects finished before Christmas so that I can enjoy my week off and then prepare for Bean's arrival.

How Big is Baby: We've graduated to the size of a squash.  Yay for a new picture!

Total Weight Gain: I remembered this morning and I'm happy to report that I'm holding steady at 20 lbs.  That sounds like a good thing since I know Bean will soon be adding to his total much more rapidly.

Sleep: As a whole, sleep is over-rated.  I'm pretty well beat by the end of the day and love the thought of going to be on time, but after a couple hours, I wake up and start the hourly runs to the potty.

Best Moment this Week: I got the house clean!!! While Brian was away on business then gone to guard over the weekend, I managed to get my house all spic and span.  Then I went and helped my sister and brother-in-law, Stacy and Scott, move into their new house.  I love feeling productive!

Worst Moment this Week:  Funeral... I just hate those. The up side is that a very good man is in a far better place now than he was a week ago.

Food Cravings: Oddly enough, still a no.  Brian and I are both completely over food at the moment.  Nothing sounds appealing.  That makes it very difficult to even decide what to have for supper.

Gender: Still a boy without a name.  We have 5 or so in mind, but we really don't have any favorites right now.

Labor Signs: None yet, though I've read that I may be having some Braxton-Hicks contractions (false labor) soon. Maybe I am and I just havn't noticed or maybe I'm not... hmmmm.

Belly Button: According to Brian, the belly button is shrinking.  Here's hoping my innie doesn't become an outtie.  That would freak Brian out pretty good.

What I miss: I wouldn't really say that I miss anything enough for it to make a difference.  However, after 6 months of pregancy I have a new appreciation for the following:  margaritas, sleep, bladder control, ample storage space, adequate lung capacity, being permitted to use my muscles and lift things,.... the list could go on and on.

What I'm looking forward to: Visitors... Brian's mom, Debra, brother, Wes, and sister-in-law, Melissa, are coming to spend the weekend.  The boys are going hunting and us girls are going to do some shopping at the Host of Christmas Past in Fayetteville.

Weekly Wisdom: When you have a monumental mess task to clean up perform and don't know where to begin, start with one simple step.  Then take another, and another, and another, and soon you will find that you have accomplished your goal.  Looking at the whole thing can be overwhelming.

Milestones: Just a little over 75 days to go.  That is both wonderful and terrifying at the same time!  But there is definately no stopping the clock.

Baby's now the size of a squash!

Baby's energy is surging, thanks to white fat depositing beneath his skin. And since he's growing so fast (weight will triple by birth), things are getting kind of cramped in the womb. What all this means for you: Get ready for some more kicks and jabs to the ribs.

28 Week Status Update

I'm super busy at work this week and rushed out of the house this morning without weighing in or anything.  I'll try to do better in the future, but I won't make any promises.  Overall things are still going great.  November has arrived, and I've just realized that I have just 12 weeks to go.  That means that I'm going to have to get busy getting the house in order.  Brian's away on business this week, so I'm trying to do just a little each night since I don't have to cook supper for just me.  On to this week's update... what little of it there is.

How Big is Baby: Still the size of an Eggplant.  I'm glad Bean is just about finished growing, but I'm ready to put up a new picture!

Total Weight Gain: Ran out of the house without weighing this morning... here's hoping that it is still around 20 lbs.

Maternity Clothes: More and more I find myself reaching for those maternity clothes instead of the regular clothes.

Stretch Marks: Still a no so far... I'm still buttering up regularly and drinking lots of water.

Sleep: Sometimes pretty good, sometimes pretty bad. I'm still waking regularly to use the potty.

Best Moment this Week: Halloween was Monday night and we got to see all the neices and nephews in their costumes.

Worst Moment this Week: Halloween... (ha ha)... the night was total chaos with all the kiddos in and out.

Food Cravings: Nope, I guess I've passed the point of cravings.

Gender: It's a boy! Now if he just had a name.

Labor Signs: None yet, though I've read that I may be having some Braxton-Hicks contractions (false labor) soon.  Maybe I am and I just havn't noticed or maybe I'm not... hmmmm.

Belly Button: Check. Still there.

What I miss: I think I'm going to miss having more room in my house.  I still don't know where everything is going to go in order for me to empty Bean's room.

What I'm looking forward to: Getting the house in better shape... I'm hoping that I can accomplish that in the next week or so.

Weekly Wisdom: I don't have any wisdom to dispense... I'm just trying to survive the party that this kid seems to be having in my belly.  Brian says it feels like someone is playing Rock-em-Sock-em Robots in there.

Milestones: Made it to the 3rd Trimester.... 12 weeks to go and about 6 months worth of things to accomplish.  Never a dull moment around here.
